German Stollen Bread

The classic German holiday brioche-style bread with raisins and toasted almonds wrapped around a Frangipane (almond cream) center and topped with powdered sugar.  Those intriguing flavors you can taste are a spice combination of cinnamon, mace, and a trace of cardamom.

This is the most delicious Stollen bread you have ever tasted!  

What is Stollen:  A traditional bread made as far back as the 15th century in Germany, now typically containing nuts, fruits, candied citrus and spices.

What makes these the best Stollen:  Several specialty bread-making techniques are used to increase moisture and fully develop the gluten network, allowing the bread to trap air as it bakes, producing a light and pillowy texture.  In addition, our Stollen has in-house candied citrus and fresh ground spices.

Frangipane:  Many traditional Stollen loaves have a Marzipan center, but Marzipan can be a bit of an acquired taste.  Think of Frangipane as the French cousin to German Marzipan: in addition to almonds and sugar, Frangipane adds eggs, butter and flour to make a spreadable, pastry-style filling that is out of this world delicious.
